@cassidoo congrats!

- Make sure you end up with a BabyBjorn Bouncer. It's magical
- Puppy training pads are the best changing table cover

@cassidoo Cloth diapers... for around the house, we kept them everywhere to make sure there was something to clean, always within reach... and the gross one... a NoseFrida. Both so helpful. And little kid bandaids. The first time they cut themselves with their fingerblades its nice to have a kid bandaid.

@cassidoo I didn't do a gift registry but I've got a massive recent spreadsheet where I did a bit of a retro of all the stuff I was recommended/bought. It's pretty detailed, but happy to give you access if it's useful ☺️

I'd also recommend asking for 'gifts' of non-immediately baby related stuff if you can, like a stash of freezer meals, help cleaning the house, etc. Makes it feel easier to ask if it's already agreed.

Good luck with it all!

@sally ooh I would LOVE to see it if you have it handy, please!!

@sophie Well it wasn't like a proper retro, but I had multiple people asking me opinions on stuff. Having the same conversation multiple times felt inefficient (gaming time more of a priority), so going through my old spreadsheet and reflecting and documenting in there felt like a good way forward 😂

@cassidoo you might want a second style of swaddle blanket to try out. Not an indictment on the one you chose, but we just couldn’t make some of em work as well as others. And living without a cup holder on the stroller was needless self-punishment.

@chad oh that's great to know, I just picked a random one! Which ones did you use?

@cassidoo I asked my wife because it's so fuzzy after two kids and her response was "a therapist."

Honestly, gift cards for delivery services. Anything that will help you sleep when the baby sleeps. Sound machine for the kid's room and another one that you can carry with you (a phone works, but what will you look at while the baby sleeps and you ignore my advice?).

You need more wipes than you think and they need to be everywhere.

@cassidoo My biggest sleep advice for the baby is something a friend of mine told me and that I don't think enough parents follow: be noisy around your baby. If you have your house whisper quiet every time the baby sleeps, the baby will learn to wake up when it hears noise. Make noise, have the TV on, have music playing, open windows. Your kid will learn to sleep through all of it and you will be much happier in the long run.

@cassidoo Congratulations! Something that caught me completely by surprise was how much post-partum care I was going to need. Be sure to get things for yourself!
