many years ago, my aunt was preparing thanksgiving dinner and she asked if I could prepare some toast in the toaster oven. I said I was happy to but that I didn’t know how to do it! and that maybe she could explain the process.
she said “oh, you’ll be fine, it’s impossible to mess it up.” when I took the toast out, she then chastised me for not immediately buttering it, saying that was doing it wrong, that I needed to do it while it was hot! she should have just told me in the first place.

@sophiebits it’s amazing contrasting that to my (laughably toxic) restaurant job where everyone was assumed to be incompetent from the start so the default was an almost insulting level of detail which actually made things easier in the long run
