Now that I'm building my vinyl collection again I want a new turntable. Does anyone have a favourite mid-level model?

Is it worth going all the way to the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo, or is an Orbit Basic good enough if I mostly just want something that looks sleek and is easy to use?

@quinn

In my experience, when when you research this online, you end up buying much more equipment than you planned and still feel anxious about sound quality.

@suetanvil That makes sense, but I don't tend to really care about sound quality. I just like the tactility and ritual of choosing an album to play on a record player.

@quinn i’ve had a set of technics 1200s since 2002, the tonearm is the weakest part (naturally) and it plays records just fine imo. all my audiohead friends kinda dismiss it or politely say nothing, but it’s a solid build and great quality, feels the opposite of the delicate you get from Actually Nice turntables, i only worry about the needle getting bounced around by houseguests and even not that much tbh
