shoutout to the nopalito cookbook which promises quick, unfussy, mexican inspired meals for dinner and then promptly begins to explain how to nixtamalize your corn. respect.

@harshil i too dream of a Third Place for my butter. it’s not the same but a chef i worked with turned me on to doing a coarse microplane of frozen irish/amish butter, it’s great on toast, lovely ribbons of butter almost like bonito flakes if you get the timing right

@siracusa @phongg i have that sel35f18 apsc lens and also love it for portraiture, those primes are great, absolutely recommend the newish low price compact primes like the sel50f25g for your a7iii, similar price point and all around solid lens for snapshots or portraits

@ponfarr absolutely, i got gifted like 20 vanilla beans once for my birthday like 15 years ago, it was liberating being able to use them with reckless abandon, totally demystified them for me.

the addition of Gonger and his absolutely unhinged energy to Cookie Monster has the effect of making cookie seem 100% normal. what a fascinating casting choice. i can’t get over it.

I want the mug, the t-shirt, the bobblehead, the wall calendar where all the national holidays are marked "FINANCIAL CALAMITY", the stickers, and Matt Levine saying "people are concerned about Thomas's availability" as my outgoing voicemail message.

i feel like it's been a while since we've seen a totally unexpected/horrifying mundane data breach with outsized effects, like, i'm sort of waiting to hear that somebody has stolen the voice recordings that call centers keep for dispute resolution (and stored who knows where) and used that to train a model that someone can use to phish my bank account over the phone to gradually siphon its contents into crypto.
